Public Sector Worth: Valuing Non-Financial Assets

October 26, 2026
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

About the Event

A critical first step in better managing the public sector balance sheet is knowing what you own and what it's worth. This half-day event will demonstrate how countries across the region are gaining a better handle on the non-financial assets side of their balance sheets, specifically land, property, and infrastructure, for decision-making and day-to-day management purposes.

Participants will cover key concepts and perspectives from international accounting good practices (IPSAS 33/45, 44), real asset management practices, and the use of digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to generate better outcomes in the public sector, revenue, and public financial management (PFM).

The event will disseminate emerging findings from the World Bank InfraGov 2.0 guidance on Public Asset Governance Functional Assessments (PAG-FA), as well as how Ministries of Finance can best spearhead tangible improvements in optimizing public sector worth across time for national, sub-national, and State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) levels, including addressing potential risks such as climate change.
