Digitalization and AI for Public Investment Management: Building Awareness, Demonstrating Applications, Driving Adoption
About the Event
Governments are looking to digitalization and increasingly AI to strengthen public investment management (PIM). But too many initiatives remain isolated pilots rather than tools embedded in everyday decision-making. Building on the December 2025 Vienna peer-learning workshop on PIM skills and digitalization, this event brings together practitioners to determine how and where digitalization and AI can credibly improve PIM outcomes, from project appraisal to ex-post evaluation.
Participants will engage directly with frameworks to explore, adopt, and apply digitalization and AI, testing use cases against the 8 Must-Haves of PIM, examining the data, procurement, talent, and governance complements that determine whether digitalization and AI deployments succeed, and translating this ambition into concrete, sequenced country action.
Activities include expert presentations and discussions, interactive peer exchange sessions, design workshops as well as a field visit to an Austrian AI-for-government use case. Outputs include an ECA PIM Digitalization and AI Use-Case Map and country-level 12-month roadmaps, feeding into the growing regional community of practice.
